Do I have dementia?

It might be a nagging feeling in the back of your mind, that something isn’t quite right.

The fear when you get lost in a familiar environment.

Trying to reach for something, that isn’t quite where you thought it was.

What do you do? If you think you have dementia?

Make a note of your symptoms, if you can, write them down or voice note record them in your phone. This can be anything that you think might be related. It may be helpful to make a note of the time they happened too.

Go to your GP and explain your symptoms. Having a note of them helps you to remember what happened and when.

Your GP will then assess whether they think you have dementia or if something else is going on.

If the GP thinks you have dementia they might refer you to a specialist to diagnose the type of dementia.

A dementia diagnosis is not the end but the beginning of something different.
